Recap of Active duty
for R. O. Blankenship

It should be noted that the following duty stations only refer to the permanent change of station orders and does not take into consideration any Temporary Additional Duties (TAD) that I had.  The fleet units assigned are listed as at the home port and does not include the locations visited while attached to these units.  There may be slight errors in the dates since the source of this information was generated from memory during a change of duty station probably.  I am sure the navy probably has the correct dates from my actual record.

While stationed at Port Lyautey, French Morocco I also flew as radio operator on flights to tow targets for gunnery practice for the sixth fleet in the Mediteranean.  This was due to the fact that there was a shortage of qualified operators available during that time.  The target towing was done with JD aircraft.  My qualifications for this assignment was brought to the attention of the command because I had volunteered to join an all enlisted crew to ferry a PBY from Quonset Point, Rhode Island to Port Lyautey.  I was the only person available with prior ARM experience in PBYs.
